30th of April 2017, 40 years from the first march organized the 30th of April 1977 by the mothers of the “Plaza de Mayo” in Buenos Aires in front of the Casa Rosada presidential palace, while trying to learn what had happened to their children, in public defiance of the government’s state terrorism intended to silence all opposition. Two moons
Staring from the window of the “hotel de los inmigrantes” in Buenos Aires, the gateway of millions of immigrants arrived with the boats one century ago.
Mi ricordo anni fa, chiacchieravo con Moacir, un affabile contadino di Ilha do Ouro, paesino rurale del Sertão brasiliano. Non riusciva a credere che esistessero altre terre oltre il suo orizzonte. Mi chiedeva se la luna e le stelle della “mia terra” fossero le stesse di lì. Immaginava ci potessero essere due, tre, cento lune.
Ecco, ora io posso immaginare che i primi immigrati italiani (e da altre parti del mondo) che venivano da villaggi molto poveri potessero pensare che ci fossero due lune. Una che si specchiava sul mare davanti a Fuscaldo e che avevano lasciato… un’altra che li aspettava in Argentina.
