“Words and people from Sarajevo”, work in progress. Rifat, of Albanese origins, met in a Bakery of the Vratnik mahala of Sarajevo. Mahalas are the typical neighbourhoods of Sarajevo that still reflects part of the spirit of the ottoman society. Architecture, urbanism and hospitality: a place where is good to share a pleasant chat around a cup of coffee or tea and …some gossips too. Rifat’s simple dream “is to have a good health and…money”. Words and people from Sarajevo: Alija

“Words and people from Sarajevo”, work in progress. Alija Poturovic, 80 years old. Since 1990, is the mosque keeper of the Bijela Dzamija (White Mosque). This job and the religion are the most important part of his life. In his message he says that the “white mosque is a gift to the city of Sarajevo”. During the 1992-95 siege of Sarajevo, the minaret was destroyed by grenades.
